What’s Next For Validators on ZetaChain Mainnet Beta

Check out this blog post in español, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, हिंदी, 한국어, tiếng-việt, deutsch, português, français, русский, українська, persian, türkçe, indonesian, filipino, and italiano (non-English translations are created by the community, not ZetaChain).

ZetaChain’s mission is to serve as a platform for universal access, simplicity, and utility across any blockchain. The successful launch of ZetaChain Mainnet Beta marks the conclusion of the incentivized testnet and the next evolution of distributed infrastructure to support ecosystem growth for many years to come.

Concluding the incentivized testnet

A total of 4.2M ZETA was allocated to participating validator teams in the testnet, marking a successful close to the incentivized testnet program. Eligible validators were those that completed the per-phase forms. The ZetaChain ecosystem is thankful for all of the validators who contributed to this phase.

All eligible validators were contacted by ZetaChain to claim their testnet rewards using the same email as the testnet submission forms. As a reminder, these rewards are locked for 1 year after the ZetaChain Mainnet Beta launch (February 1st, 2024).

Note, participation in the incentivized testnet and reward opportunity was independent of any mainnet programs. There is currently no active mainnet delegation program.

Communication Updates

While the network and validators should have their own alerting systems, all operators can now monitor and subscribe to the public status.zetachain.com for real-time updates on the network. Discord is another public channel for receiving updates, but it should not be used as an emergency alerting system.

What’s next for ZetaChain validators?

ZetaChain’s Mainnet Beta network is permissionless. Anyone can operate a validator and join the network. The minimum stake is 1 ZETA and the top 100 validators based on total stake will be in the active set. All validators in the active set earn block emissions proportional to stake for securing the network. As the network usage grows, validators and infrastructure builders have more opportunities to work with and support network growth.

Validators and developers interested in building infrastructure projects such as explorers, indexers, tooling, oracles, and other public goods should reach out or propose projects through the grants program.

The ZetaChain Mainnet Beta launch marks an exciting new chapter. Core developers, validators and node operators building distributed infrastructure allows the community to grow. We look forward to collaborating with you!

Want to learn more about ZetaChain validation?

At a high-level, the simple, fast, and secure omnichain blockchain is a permissionless, Proof-of-Stake, and EVM-compatible layer 1. Summarizing ZetaDocs’s architecture overview, ZetaChain has three core validator roles that provide consensus, which together, achieve omnichain interoperability:

  1. Core Validators provide consensus to ZetaChain’s Layer 1 blockchain, built on the Cosmos SDK and Tendermint. This means a limited number of core validators (similar to the Cosmos Hub) and ZETA token holders can freely delegate to these validators in order to earn rewards for helping secure the network.

  2. Observer Validators observe actions on blockchains connected to ZetaChain and send relevant events to ZetaChain’s core validators.

  3. TSS Signer Validators allow ZetaChain to write/sign transactions from core validators onto connected chains in a decentralized way. This is a crucial feature that enables Bitcoin Smart Contracts.

About ZetaChain

ZetaChain is a simple, fast, and secure omnichain blockchain. A pioneer implementing the concept of chain abstraction, ZetaChain serves as the base-layer of the decentralized internet. With ZetaChain’s Omnichain Smart Contracts, developers can build truly interoperable dApps that span multiple chains across any existing blockchain from Ethereum to Bitcoin and beyond. Access all of crypto from any chain, including new blockchain innovations into the future. ZetaChain’s mission is to build a platform for global access, simplicity, and utility across any blockchain.
